Heaven’s on Your Side

Heaven’s On Your Side

The One who dies for us… is in the presence of God this very moment sticking up for us. Romans 8:34  MSG

Jesus is praying for us….Jesus has spoken and Satan has listened. The devil may land a punch or two. He may even win a few rounds, but he never wins the fight. Why? Because Jesus takes up for you…”He is able always to save those who come to God through Him because He always lives, asking God to help them” (Heb. 7:25)….
Jesus, at this very moment, is protecting you….Evil must pass through Christ before it can touch you. And God will “never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it” (1 Cor. 10:13 MSG).

A Burst of Love

A Burst of Love

Seek God’s kingdom, and all the other things you need will be given to you.  Luke 12:31

Sometimes God is so touched by what He sees that He gives us what we need and not simply that for which we ask.
It’s a good thing. For who would have ever thought to ask God for what He gives? Which of us would have dared to say: “God, would You please hang Yourself on a tool of torture as a substitution for every mistake I have ever committed?” And then have the audacity to add: “And after You forgive me, could You prepare me a place in Your house to live forever?”
And if that wasn’t enough: “And would You please live within me and protect me and guide me and bless me with more than I could ever deserve?”
Honestly, would we have the chutzpah to ask for that?….
Jesus aready knows the cost of grace. He already knows the price of forgiveness. But He offers it anyway. Love burst His heart.

The Sin of the World

by PRRussell on Mar.11, 2010, under ♥ My Spiritual Blog

The Sin of the World

Christ carried our sins in His body on the cross….. 1 Peter 2:24

Every aspect of the crucifixion was intended not only to hurt the victim but to shame him. Death on a cross was usually reserved for the most vile offenders: slaves, murderers, assassins, and the like. The condemned person was marched through the city streets, shouldering his crossbar and wearing a placard about his neck that named his crime. At the execution site he was stripped and mocked.
Crucifixion was so abhorrent that Cicero wrote, “Let the very name of the cross be far away, not only from the body of a Roman citizen, but even from his thoughts, his eyes, his ears.”
Jesus was not only shamed before people, He was shamed before heaven.
Since He bore the sin of the murderer and adulterer, He felt the shame of the murderer and adulterer. Though He never lied, He bore the disgrace of a liar. Though He never cheated, He felt the embarrassment of a cheater. Since He bore the sin of the world, He felt the collective shame of the world.

God Is Crazy About You

by PRRussell on Mar.10, 2010, under ♥ My Spiritual Blog

God Is Crazy About You

God even knows how many hairs are on your head. Matthew 10:30

There are many reasons God saves you: to bring glory to Himself, to appease His justice, to demonstrate His sovereignty. But one of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He is fond of you. He likes having you around. He thinks you are the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while….
If God had a refridgerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart…
Face it friend, He’s crazy about you.

Kind Hearts

Kind Hearts

Love suffers long and is kind.  1 Corinthians 13:4 NKJV

What is your kindness quotient? When was the last time you did something kind for someone in your family – e.g., got a blanket, cleaned off the table, prepared the coffee – without being asked?
Think about your school or workplace. Which person is the most overlooked or avoided? A shy student? A grumpy employee? Maybe he doesn’t speak the language. Maybe she doesn’t fit in. Are you kind to this person?
Kind hearts are quietly kind. They let the car cut into traffic and the young mom with three kids move up in the checkout line. They pick up the neighbor’s trash can that rolled into the street. And they are especially kind at church. They understand that perhaps the neediest person they’ll meet all week is the one standing in the foyer or sitting on the row behind them in worship. Paul writes: “When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers”(Gal. 6:10).

Sole Provider, Sole Comforter

by PRRussell on Mar.05, 2010, under ♥ My Spiritual Blog

Sole Provider, Sole Comforter

Come to Me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

As long as Jesus is one of many options, He is no option.
As long as you can carry your burdens alone, you don’t need a burden bearer. As long as your situation brings you no grief, you will receive no comfort. And as long as you can take Him or leave Him, you might as well leave Him, because He won’t be taken half-heartedly.
But when you mourn, when you get to the point of sorrow for your sins, when you admit that you have no other options but to cast all your cares on Him, and when there is truly no other name that you can call, then cast all your cares on Him, for He is waiting in the midst of the storm.

Live a Holy Life

by PRRussell on Mar.03, 2010, under ♥ My Spiritual Blog

Live a Holy Life

You should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

You want to make a difference in your world? Live a holy life:
Be faithful to your spouse.
Be the one at the office who refuses to cheat.
Be the neighbor who acts neighborly.
Be the employee who does the work and doesn’t complain.
Pay your bills.
Do your part and enjoy life.
Don’t speak one message and live another.
People are watching the way we act more than they are listening to what we say.

Betty Crocker Gluten Free Devil’s Food Cake!

by PRRussell on Mar.01, 2010, under ♥ My Celiac Blog

Hello all! Well, I have been wanting to write this post to my blog for some time but have had trouble finding the time to just sit and do it. By now most of you should know about the Betty Crocker Gluten Free products. Probably, most of you have tried them already, too. But just in case some of you haven’t I wanted to give you my opinion of this line. I LOVE it! This particular post will be about the Devils Food cake mix though. I loved this mix! The mixture was easy to make… just add a couple items. It was as if I had stepped back into pre-diagnosed time for me and was making a cake. I was so pleased! The batter was not riding up the beaters driving me insane with it’s thickness and super adhesive powers that most gluten free cake mixes seem to have. It was a thin batter and extremely easy to work with in every sense. It baked up light and fluffy and super moist! As with all gluten free cake mixes though 1 box will only get you one layer on a double layer cake so be prepared to buy 2 boxes for the traditional 2 layer cake. It is well worth it though! The cake was delicious, moist, and easy to make! I will not be using any other cake mix from this time forward. I love it that much! Try this cake with my cream cheese frosting recipe that I have under my “Recipes” page above. Be sure to let the frosting sit in the refrigerator and chill slightly before using though. If you haven’t tried this gluten free cake mix yet you should run out and get one right now! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all! Happy Eating!
