The Smiling Heart

♥ Poems

These poems are my original creations. I hope you find pleasure in reading them. I have several and will be adding more as I get them typed up so please check back. Please don’t reproduce these writings elsewhere either in full or in part. If you desire to use any of these writings in full or in part for your own individdual use then please let me know and I will happily consider your request. There is a lot of plagerism and theft happening on the internet and it’s up to us to police ourselves. Please respect the work of others.

November

The seasons hath circled now
Changing the world, creating anew.
‘Tis November once again
A year, a year, a year soon passed.
‘Twas November when mine eyes first met thine
And how I prayed, I prayed, I prayed to our Lord
That thou shalt not see my stare.
Memorizing thy face and smile
Captured by the life in thy eyes
Intoxicated by the laughter thy humor do giveth me.
Thou is far from me, yet never far.
We shall know one another in time
For is there no such thing as fate?
Then, pray tell thee, why did we meet?
Patience, my beloved, for if thou wish
Myself will know thou and thou will know myself.
Look close, my dear, the seasons hast come full circle.
Tis November, November once again
And thou remain strong in mine heart.

I Stop and Listen

Stripped and savaged the forests lay open
cures lost forever in time
deadly viruses awakened from rest.
Bound to a stake, the rainforests burn alive
life extinct before we may embrace it
answers lost before the question is thought.
I stop and listen with my heart.
Waves of human denial cry at our shorelines
the first life began here, the first life dies here
the gentle giants fall prey to this wasteland.
The rivers and streams run dark with despair
sewage runs in and death pours out
remember not to swim or eat the fish.
I stop and listen with my heart.
Blaring over the airwaves the five o’clock new begins….
hundreds of fish are dead in the local creek
another species lay fallen to extinction
the city water is contaminated, do not drink.
I stop and listen with my heart
and weep at the sound of my Mother dying.

My Prayer

That I will have the patience to rebuild a shattered dream
That I will have the strength to cry and then carry on
That I will have the understanding to forgive the worst evil
That I will have the wisdom to know I can do no more
That I will have the hope of a dream taking flight
That I will keep the innocence known only to a newborn babe
That I will see beauty where there is none to see
That I will have enough love for all…. even the loneliest
That I will know a blissful peace in my heart and soul
That I will feel the touch of the Lord each and every day
That my soul will carry on and on and on and on…..
